"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change
the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
"
- Margaret Mead

The mission of the Otsego Conservation District is to assist the people of Otsego County in the wise use and management of their natural resources for a healthy environment and sustained economic growth. The district was formed in June of 1944. Projects include a tree seedling sale, a number of educational programs, and cost share programs to improve wildlife habitat. Huron Pines AmeriCorps members help emphasize hands-on learning while participating in outdoor physical activities, coordinate existing volunteer groups and strive to expand the district volunteer program. Other responsibilities include developing a native plants program and promoting water quality education.
