"The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest;
it is the one thing that all of us share. It is not only a mirror of ourselves, but
a focusing lens on what we can become...

My name is Jon, and I serve the Otsego County Conservation District by designing demonstration buffer zones of native plants that will be used to educate the public on preserving surface water quality. I will also be meeting with local landowners interested in registering their property in the new carbon sequestration program, mapping those properties, and developing a website. My main goal is to educate people on the environmental sensitivities of Otsego County.

I attended Northern Michigan University and graduated in May of 2007 with a bachelor degree of science in environmental conservation. Part of my education included an internship with Cook Inlet Aquaculture near Seward, Alaska. The need for sockeye salmon egg takes allowed me to work in a dream environment.

The Boyne River watershed is where I spend most of my free time.  I enjoy fly fishing, salmon trolling, hunting, camping, skiing, canoeing, and most other outdoor recreation.
